When you find yourself in a funk, expand your world.
Most of us are comfortably within a routine. This is very useful for day-to-day productivity but it’s not so useful for adventure.
After too many days of doing the same thing the walls of your life creep closer and closer. Sometimes it’s tempting to do a massive change in search of novelty and excitement but there’s a much easier solution.
Expand your world.
That doesn’t mean you have to travel overseas to a new country. There are places within an hour of where you live that are waiting to be explored.
You can spend time at a park you’ve never been to, find a bike trail to ride, walk around a neighborhood, literally it can be anything. Just get outside of where your normally spend time and the novelty of the situation will be extremely refreshing.
I spent four years in my college town and had my fair share of boring days. About a year ago I was visiting the town again and went to a state park 15 minutes away. It was an amazing park and I couldn’t believe I had never been to it during my time there!
Once you are out exploring a new place, you’ll have a new vantage point and life will flow easier.
